Team Insufishent Funds 38 Wins ASA Final Division 2 Tournament Big Bass Open
After canceling the ASA Mercury Tournament Trail event scheduled for November 1-2 due to the effects of tropical storm Noel, a reduced field of 32 boats down from the 60 expected on the original date still encountered rough weather on the 1st day of the rescheduled tournament.
The morning went well with winds of 10-15 knots but that changed quickly by afternoon when the winds kicked up to 15-20 knots and gusts of 25. All but 8 boats still weighed in fish on the 1st day of the Big Bass Open which saw Team Insufishant Funds land a 45.20 striper which would hold up as the largest fish caught over the two day tournament. David Schunke, Captain of Insufishant Funds was thrilled to see the 24.25 lb striper brought in on day two keep him in 1st place with a total weight of 69.45 pounds and a $6600 payday.

Team Cheap Shot finished 2nd with a 42.60 & 23.70 pound fish for a 66.30 total winning $2995. Team Gold Rush finished 3rd with a two day total of 62.90 (36.45 & 26.45) winning $1415. Team Happi Daze and Outta Line finished in 4th and 5th with totals of 60.60 and 60.35.
The Lady Angler of the tournament was Mary Inman fishing with Team Big Dog and the Jr. Angler was Ann and Sydney Unsworth fishing with Team Mod Squad.
The Big Bass Open was also the last tournament in Division 2 for 2007. Captain Ken Zwirko on Team Bunker Down took 18th place in the Big Fish Open but won the Division based on performance in the 4 tournament division with 227.10 points winning a $5000 division bonus, Team Tyman finished 9th in the Big Bass Open and took 2nd in the division with 212.70 points, winning a $2500 Divisional bonus and Team Cheap Shot took third in the division with 156.20 points winning a $1000 divisional bonus.
