The American Striper Association started the 2008 tournament series off with the Richest Striper Tournament on the East Coast. The tournament had 286 entries and paid out more than $227,170. Many fish weighing over 50 pounds came to the scales with the top boat posting a three fish combined weight of 137.40 pounds.

Max Kings, Team Chesapeake Angler won the tournament for the 2nd time in three years. This year’s win saw Max go home with a new Contender boat, motor and trailer package valued at $50,000 plus $15,750 in cash.

Hot off the ASA National Championship Tournament win in North Carolina at the end of December was Team Marlin Maniac. David Nova’s team took 2nd and won over $106,410 in ASA and tournament prize money.  3rd place went to Team Hapi Daze along with $44,510 in prize money. Team Undertaker placed 4th and received $5640 in tournament money. 5th went to Team Decoy along with $3760. 6th place was ASA Team Right Hook which won $2820.
