Unusually warm weather greeted participants of the ASA Mercury Striper Series in Old Saybrook, Connecticut on September 13th. Team Boat Show Direct enjoyed the 80 degree temperature as well as a tournament win posting an impressive two fish total of 82.80 pounds. Fishing on a Mercury powered Fountain boat Captain Don McNally registered his second win in two years at the Between the Bridges Marina venue. 22 boats in the 34 boat field weighed fish allowing over 50% of these teams to take home prize money.

Team Boat Show Directs 1st place payout of $4954 included the tournament win, big fish of the tournament and top Calcutta with a 51.55lb. striper. Team Member Michelle McNally also won the top honors for Lady Angler. Captain Donna Speaks of Team Dream Catchers on a 25ft Yamaha powered Cape Horn placed 2nd with a total weight of 69.80 pounds winning $2036 which included money for the 3rd largest fish caught during the tournament of 37.15lbs. In 3rd place Captain Harry Svenson of Team Cheap Shot on a Mercury powered Fountain weighed two fish for a 62.1 pound total earning $1830 which included the 2nd largest fish of the tournament, a 43.50 pounds striper. In 4th, Captain John Frione of Team Tara Anne running a 29ft Mercury powered Sea Vee took home $850 with a 61.05 total. 5th  place went to Team Orca Captained by Wade Callander on a 23ft Suzuki powered Sea Craft winning $680. Wade Callanders son Mike also took home Top Jr. Angler honors. Additional awards were presented to Captain Paul Parzych on a 21ft Evinrude powered SeaSwirl winning $680 in the 26 and under division. Captain Howard Owens on a 24ft Sea Hunt won $204 and the tournaments Bunker Award. To view all the tournament results and ASA standings go to fishasa.com.
